The Midnight
The Midnight is an American synthwave duo formed in 2012 after songwriter Tyler Lyle and producer Tim McEwan met at a co-writing workshop in North Hollywood, California. Lyle contributes lead vocals, guitar, and synths from Atlanta, while McEwan, based in Portland, handles production, percussion, synths, and vocals.

About The Midnight
The band's sound draws on synthwave, futuresynth, and chillwave, with an aesthetic influenced by the 2011 film Drive and its score. Studio albums include Endless Summer (2016) and Nocturnal (2017), followed by the thematic trilogy Kids (2018), Monsters (2020), and Heroes (2022), which the band closed out with Syndicate (2025).
Monsters and Heroes each reached number three on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The duo has described its music around the Japanese concept of mono no aware, a nostalgic awareness that nothing lasts forever.
Live, The Midnight expands beyond its core duo with additional touring musicians on saxophone, vocals, and percussion, building out the layered, retro-tinged sound of its recordings for the stage.
