The Shires
The Shires are an English country music duo formed in 2013 by Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes, who met after Earle posted on social media seeking a collaborator for a country act; Earle is from Hertfordshire and Rhodes from Bedfordshire. Rhodes sings lead vocals while Earle provides harmony vocals and plays piano and guitar.

About The Shires
Their debut album, Brave (2015), reached number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, making The Shires the first British country act to reach the chart's top ten. The follow-up, My Universe (2016), debuted at number 3 and became the fastest-selling British country album on record. Later releases Accidentally on Purpose (2018) and Good Years (2020) each reached number 3, and 10 Year Plan (2022) reached number 5.
Both members had pursued solo careers before forming the duo, each having previously auditioned unsuccessfully for The X Factor. The Shires became the first UK act signed to Universal Music Group Nashville and won the British Country Music Association Award for UK Album of the Year in both 2015 and 2016, then received an award for Global Artist of the Year from a major American country music association in 2017.
In 2019 Earle and Rhodes received honorary doctorates of the arts from the University of Bedfordshire. Their sixth studio album, Bonfire, is set for a 2026 release, led by the single "Getaway Car," which became the first UK country song to reach the top 10 of the Official Country Radio Airplay Chart.
