TheARTI$t, born Erica McCauley, is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter from Newark, New Jersey. She sang as a child and posted videos online, but did not pursue music professionally until college, when friends encouraged her into the studio; her background also includes training as a dancer and contemporary movement artist.

About TheARTI$t

She released her debut EP, Arti$t: Take One, in 2020, before breaking through in January 2023 with the single "Sober," a reflective track about moving past a toxic relationship that went viral on TikTok and landed on Spotify's Fresh Finds R&B best-of-the-year list. Her follow-up, the EP ARTChives (2023), is an eight-track project exploring love and vulnerability, featuring the standout "Love Out Loud" with producer Troy Taylor.

TheARTI$t cites Brent Faiyaz and Summer Walker as influences on her storytelling approach to R&B, and describes her artistic identity as resistant to easy categorization, saying she can be "the crazy one" or "the calm one" depending on the day. In 2024 she was selected as an official artist for South by Southwest, and she has also served as a regional headliner for Newark Pride and was featured in B Code Media's Future of Black Music showcase.

Her most recent project, the EP Who I Am (2025), includes the tracks "Better as Friends," "Ghost," and "Gravity." She continues to describe herself as a multidisciplinary creative working across singing, dance, painting, and fashion, alongside her music.
