This Is Lorelei is the recording name of American singer, songwriter and producer Nate Amos, born January 8, 1991, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Amos adopted the name after relocating to Chicago around 2013, initially self-releasing a series of mixtapes and EPs that ranged widely across rock, folk and electronic styles.

About This Is Lorelei
The project reached a wider audience with the 2024 studio album Box for Buddy, Box for Star, issued on Double Double Whammy, which drew year-end recognition from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard and GQ and was the subject of a profile in The New York Times. The record moved between dust-bowl folk, glitchy electronic production, club-influenced tracks and synth-pop-tinged ballads within a single sequence.
Amos is also the guitarist and producer of the Brooklyn-based duo Water From Your Eyes, which he co-founded with Rachel Brown in 2015. He has described This Is Lorelei as a looser, more eclectic outlet than the duo, without a fixed touring band, instead assembling collaborators on a show-by-show basis. In December 2025 he released Holo Boy, a collection of re-recorded versions of songs drawn from his 2014–2021 catalogue.
Amos signed to Matador Records in May 2026 and released a further album, The Singer in My Band, in September 2026, continuing to record and tour under both the This Is Lorelei name and with Water From Your Eyes.
