Tori Amos
Tori Amos, born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963, in Newton, North Carolina, is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. A classically trained prodigy, she won a scholarship to Baltimore's Peabody Institute at age five, the youngest student ever admitted, but was expelled at eleven for favoring rock and pop over the classical curriculum. From 1986 to 1988 she fronted the synth-pop band Y Kant Tori Read.

About Tori Amos
Her solo debut, Little Earthquakes (1992), became a touchstone of 1990s singer-songwriter music, pairing raw piano rock with confessional lyrics about religious upbringing, sexual assault, and identity. She followed it with Under the Pink (1994), Boys for Pele (1996), and From the Choirgirl Hotel (1998), building a body of work, spanning alternative rock, chamber pop, and electronic textures, that explores sexuality, feminism, politics, and religion. She has earned nine Grammy nominations.
Amos built a reputation for intense solo and full-band live shows centered on elaborate multi-keyboard rigs, continuing to record prolifically through Scarlet's Walk (2002), The Beekeeper (2005), and Native Invader (2017). In 2019 she received the George Peabody Medal, recognizing her contribution to music decades after her expulsion from the school's youth program.
Amos released Ocean to Ocean in 2021 and, in 2025, the children's book Tori and the Muses, whose soundtrack earned a Grammy nomination. Her eighteenth studio album, In Times of Dragons, is set for release in 2026.
