About Unpeople

Unpeople's music pairs alternative rock with heavier, post-punk-influenced instrumentation and hook-driven vocals. Early singles "smother" and "waste" preceded a self-titled EP, and the band has continued releasing tracks including "the garden," "clouds" and "friends" ahead of a debut album, we are unpeople, due in October 2026 on SharpTone Records. The band's name is drawn from a term for people considered politically unimportant, which the group has reframed as a statement of solidarity with listeners who feel overlooked.

Lyrically, the band addresses vulnerability, mental health and social pressure; vocalist Jake Crawford has described the songwriting as a way of processing feelings rather than "bottling it up." The band has built a reputation as a live act able to play both indie-leaning bills and heavier festival stages, including performances at Download, Bloodstock and 2000trees, and opened for Metallica in Vienna in June 2024.
