Cyprus Annual Festivals Calendar 2026
Reviewed by Wanderistan editorial team · Last updated Jul 27, 2026
Cyprus runs one of the densest small-country festival calendars in Europe — not one or two headline events, but a year-round programme of village food feasts, open-air cinema, wine harvests and heritage festivals that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism publishes each year as its official "Annual Events" programme.

Quick answer
Most of these are decades-old community fixtures (some numbered in the 40s and higher — the Kolokasi Festival below is in its 46th year) rather than one-off tourist events, which is exactly why they are hard to research online: the date moves every year, coverage is scattered across municipal sites and local press, and last year's date gets confused with this year's. This calendar lists the 2026 edition of each fixture we could verify, grouped by season, with a link to our own event page for each and to the official organiser where we could confirm one.
Dates and venues below are curated from the official Visit Cyprus annual events programme and cross-checked against each event's own municipal or organiser site — see Sources. Programmes shift by a few days some years, so always confirm on the official link before you travel.
Cyprus annual festivals month by month (2026)
This is the spine of the calendar — every fixture from the official Visit Cyprus 2026 annual events programme we could match to a city and a source. Food and heritage festivals dominate July–October; sport fixtures (marathons, the Cyprus Rally, endurance events) cluster in autumn and late spring.

Food and harvest festivals
Cyprus's village food festivals are the backbone of the autumn calendar on the east coast — each one built around a single local product and running for a single evening rather than a multi-day programme.
- The Potato Festival (Avgorou) and Kolokasi Festival (Sotira) both fall under the Paralimni municipality on the east coast, a few kilometres apart — worth combining into one east-coast evening if your dates line up.
- These are single-evening village events, not multi-day festivals: arrive for the early-evening opening, expect food stalls and live entertainment rather than a ticketed programme, and confirm the year's date on the linked event page since these move by a week or two year to year.
- Pancyprian Potato Festival, Avgorou (25 Jul 2026)
- Kolokasi Festival, Sotira (5 Sep 2026, 46th year)
- Pancyprian Cultural Watermelon Festival, Frenaros (8 Jul 2026)
- Pastelli Feast, Anogyra (20 Sep 2026)
- Agia Napa Traditional Flavours Festival (21–23 Aug 2026)
- Pancyprian Festival of Athienou Products (11 Oct 2026)
Protaras Summer Film Festival: it is a season, not a one-night event
This is Cyprus's largest open-air cinema and one of the highest-demand queries in our own search data, so it earns a closer look. The 12th Protaras Summer Film Festival ran 18 consecutive nights, 8–26 July 2026, at Lefkolla Square in the centre of Protaras (Paralimni municipality, Famagusta district) — organised by the Paralimni Youth Organisation on what is billed as Cyprus's largest outdoor cinema screen.
Most nights carried one or two screenings, broadly a family/dubbed title around 20:00 and the main feature at 21:00–22:00. The 2026 programme listed roughly 28 titles across the run — recent blockbusters alongside Greek-dubbed children's films — with on-site stands for popcorn and drinks. Entry is free and unticketed; you walk up and find a seat, arriving early on popular nights.
We could not find any evidence the 2026 edition extended into August: the official site and three independent Cyprus press write-ups (aftodioikisi.com.cy, skalatimes.com, Cyprus Mail) all give the same 8–26 July window, closing on the 26th. If a page or listing states an August 2026 date for this specific edition, treat it as unconfirmed until the organiser publishes otherwise — the pattern (12th edition, roughly three weeks, closing in late July) has been consistent across recent years.
- What are the dates of the Protaras Summer Film Festival 2026?
- The 12th edition ran 18 nights, 8–26 July 2026, at Lefkolla Square in Protaras (Paralimni). It is an annual fixture — expect a similar late-June/July window in 2027, with exact dates confirmed on the official site closer to the time.
- What is the nightly programme like — is it one screening?
- Most nights run two screenings: an earlier family or Greek-dubbed children's title (around 20:00) and the main feature later (21:00–22:00), projected on what organisers describe as Cyprus's largest outdoor cinema screen. The full 2026 line-up ran to roughly 28 titles across the three-week season.
- Do I need a ticket for the Protaras Summer Film Festival?
- No — it is free, walk-up open-air cinema with no booking system. You only pay for concessions (popcorn, drinks) at the on-site stands. Arrive early on weekend nights for a good seat.
- Does the festival run into August?
- Not in 2026 — the official programme and independent Cyprus press coverage all confirm the season closed on 26 July. We found no source confirming an August extension for this specific edition.
Pafos Beer Festival and the rest of the drinks calendar
The Pafos (Paphos) Beer Festival runs 5–9 August 2026 at Paphos Old Harbour — five evenings of craft and commercial beer, food stalls and live music against the Paphos Castle waterfront. We keep the full visitor guide (getting there, tickets, what to expect) on its own page rather than repeating it here.
Wine and flowers: the Lemesos Wine Festival and Anthestiria
The Lemesos (Limassol) Wine Festival is the island's best-known wine event: a long-running municipal festival in the Limassol Municipal Gardens with cheap tasting tickets, food and nightly live entertainment. The 2026 edition runs 26 September – 4 October, evenings from 18:00.
Anthestiria is a separate, smaller spring event — a flower festival, not a wine festival, held in Limassol each May and named for the ancient Athenian festival honouring Dionysus. The Limassol Municipality's own page confirms the festival runs in May ("the Flower Month") but does not publish a specific 2026 day-range; several travel sites list 6–10 May 2026, which we could not independently confirm on an official source, so treat that exact window as approximate and check the municipality's listings closer to the date.
Heritage, culture and city festivals
Beyond the food calendar, most Cyprus cities run their own autumn culture programme — theatre, music and, in Agia Napa's case, a full medieval re-enactment festival.
Music festivals and the rest of the calendar
LMF, MEDFEST and the other ticketed music festivals have their own dedicated hub — see our Cyprus music festivals guide rather than duplicating it here. Sport fixtures (the Cyprus Rally, the Famagusta and Larnaka marathons, the O3 Olympusman Triathlon and the Cyprus 4 Day Challenge) are listed in the month-by-month table above; each links out to its own event page.
