This photography exhibition at La Bellevilloise offers an intimate look at daily life in Deleon Bigwoods, a small Jamaican village in the Westmoreland hills. Photographer Stéphane Delphin captured the community from 1991 to 2025, focusing on the evenings when a local bar-grocery transformed into the beating heart of the village around its sound system, Prosperous. The images document both the Reggae Dancehall culture and the profound changes in rural life.

The exhibition gained urgency after Cyclone Melissa in October 2025 destroyed many of the photographed locations. Visitors will see portraits and scenes of everyday life, punctuated by a massive, handmade sound system. Those inspired to support the community can learn about local initiatives through Jah Works Experience, an organization involved in rural co-development in Jamaica.
