Chicago Underground Duo in Lisbon

After an 11-year silence, the iconic Chicago Underground Duo reunites for a special performance at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Rob Mazurek and Chad Taylor bring their avant-garde jazz to Lisbon, blending post-rock deconstruction, African rhythmic traditions, and experimental electronics.

The duo's set promises a dialogue between Taylor's trance-like percussion and Mazurek's centrifugal explorations across a wide array of instruments, including trumpet, piccolo trumpet, electric piano, modular synthesizers, samplers, voice, flute, and bells. A multimedia dimension adds to the immersive experience.

This reunion follows their work with collectives like Exploding Star Orchestra, Fly or Die, and Marshall Allen's Ghost Horizons. The concert takes place in the Gulbenkian's Auditorium 2, offering an intimate setting for this rare encounter.
