Pat Thomas: Solo Piano at Gulbenkian

British pianist Pat Thomas, a regular presence at Jazz em Agosto in recent years, returns to Lisbon for a solo piano concert drawn from his 2025 album *Hikmah* — an Arabic word meaning “wisdom or knowledge”. The performance, held in the intimate Auditorium 2 of the Gulbenkian Foundation, promises a deep, meditative experience: as one critic notes, Thomas invites the listener to concentrate deeply while also letting go, as if suspended between prayer and dream. His left hand often serves as an anchor as the right hand ventures into the unknown, blending the spiritual and the earthly across the piano keys.

Thomas has previously performed at the festival with collectives such as Ahmed, The Locals, and X-Ray Hex Tet, but this edition showcases him alone, offering a rare chance to hear his singular voice in improvised music up close.
