About Romania
Romania is Dracula country made real, with Bran and Peleș castles and fortified Saxon villages, plus the switchback Transfăgărășan carving through the Carpathians. It pairs that with handsome, low-cost cities: Bucharest's Belle Époque boulevards and rowdy nightlife, student-driven Cluj-Napoca, and the cobbled Transylvanian squares of Sibiu and Brașov. Food is hearty and cheap (sarmale, mici), the mountains still hold wild bears and wolves, and it remains one of Europe's best-value trips for how far a modest budget stretches.

Discover Romania
Romania is one of Europe’s most varied countries: the Carpathian mountains arc through the middle, Transylvania’s Saxon towns and castles sit in the hills, and the Black Sea coast at Mamaia and Constanța brings summer beaches. Cities like Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca add big-festival energy and a fast-growing food and nightlife scene.
It’s a four-season destination — hiking and castles in summer, festivals from spring to autumn, and ski resorts (Poiana Brașov, Sinaia) in winter. Distances are real, so most trips centre on one region: Transylvania (Brașov, Sibiu, Bran), the capital, or the coast.
Top places in Romania
- Brașov & Bran Castle — Gothic Transylvanian old town at the foot of the Carpathians, near “Dracula’s castle”.
- Bucharest — The capital: the colossal Palace of the Parliament, Old Town nightlife and big festivals.
- Cluj-Napoca — Transylvania’s student city — home of UNTOLD and Electric Castle, great cafés and food.
- Sibiu — Cobbled squares and pastel townhouses — one of Europe’s best-preserved Saxon towns.
- Mamaia & the Black Sea coast — Romania’s main beach strip — resorts, lidos and summer clubbing by the sea.
