156/Silence are an American metalcore band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 2015. Their sound blends metalcore, post-hardcore, and hardcore punk influences, built around dense, angular compositions and harsh vocal performances that explore anxiety, self-doubt, grief, and personal collapse. The current lineup pairs founding guitarist Jimmy Howell with vocalist Jack Murray, who joined in 2018, guitarist Ryan Wilkinson, also since 2018, drummer Kyle O'Connell, since 2020, and bassist Mike Ernst, who was the band's original vocalist from 2015 to 2017.

About 156/Silence

The band's catalogue includes And Everything Was Beautiful (2016), Undercover Scumbag (2018), Irrational Pull (2020), Narrative (2022), and People Watching (2024), the last of which marked a shift toward metalcore and away from the group's earlier hardcore sound, built around tracks such as "Better Written Villain" and "Character Development (Cold Start)." A further album, From a Distance, is scheduled for September 2026. The band records for SharpTone Records and Pure Noise Records.

156/Silence have built their reputation on the road, touring alongside acts including The Acacia Strain, Unearth, Upon a Burning Body, and Signs of the Swarm. In March 2025 the band's then-bassist, Lukas Booker, died unexpectedly; the group subsequently continued touring with Silent Planet and Invent Animate.
