About Ash
Their 1996 debut album 1977, released while the members were still teenagers, was later named by NME as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Follow-up releases Nu-Clear Sounds (1998) and Free All Angels (2001) consolidated the band's UK chart presence, and they have continued to record, with albums including Meltdown (2004), Islands (2018) and Ad Astra (2025).
Ash have placed 18 songs in the UK Singles Chart top 40, including "Girl from Mars," "Goldfinger," "Burn Baby Burn" and "Shining Light," the last of which won Best Contemporary Song at the 2002 Ivor Novello Awards. Their song "Kung Fu" featured in Jackie Chan's film Rumble in the Bronx. The band has earned multiple gold and platinum certifications in the UK across a career now spanning more than three decades.
