Bellowhead
Bellowhead were an English folk band formed in 2004 by fiddle player Jon Boden and melodeon player John Spiers, previously the duo Spiers and Boden. The idea arose during a traffic jam on tour, and as the pair discussed which friends to invite, the lineup grew into an eleven-piece ensemble with a four-piece brass section and percussion. Other members included Benji Kirkpatrick, Paul Sartin, Sam Sweeney, Rachael McShane and Pete Flood.

About Bellowhead
The group played traditional dance tunes, folk songs and sea shanties, arranged with influences from funk, rock, jazz and music hall. Their third album, Hedonism (2010), became the best-selling independently released folk album in British chart history, selling over 60,000 copies and earning a BPI Silver certification. Broadside (2012) reached number 16 on the UK album chart and won Best Album at the 2013 Folk Awards, while Revival (2014) peaked at number 12.
Known for large-scale arrangements and horn-driven reworkings of traditional material, Bellowhead won eight BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including Best Live Act five times, and helped spark a contemporary folk revival in Britain. Jon Boden stepped down as frontman in 2015, and the band played its final show in May 2016 after twelve years together. Founding member Paul Sartin died suddenly in September 2022.
Bellowhead reformed for a livestreamed reunion concert in December 2020 and undertook further reunion tours in 2022 and 2024, continuing to perform selectively two decades after their original formation.
