Cassia
Cassia are an English three-piece band from Macclesfield, near Manchester, formed around 2015 when singer-guitarist Rob Ellis and bassist Lou Cotterill were joined by drummer Jacob Leff. The band took its name after Leff brought a djembe drum made of cassia wood to a rehearsal, a moment the group has credited with reshaping their sound.

About Cassia
The trio blend indie pop with African- and Latin-influenced rhythms, citing Paul Simon, Fela Kuti, and Ebo Taylor as touchstones alongside Vampire Weekend and Foals. They signed to Distiller Records and released their debut album, Replica, in 2019, followed by Why You Lacking Energy, written after the band relocated to Berlin, and a third album, everyone, outside. Early singles such as "100 Times Over" and "Drifting" have amassed tens of millions of streams.
Cassia built their following through extensive touring, playing festivals including Reading & Leeds, Y Not, and The Great Escape, and selling out headline shows at venues such as Manchester's O2 Ritz and London's The Garage. They earned a Best Live Act nomination at the Association of Independent Music Awards alongside Idles and DMA's, and expanded their touring to North America in 2025.
