Earl Sweatshirt, born Thebe Neruda Kgositsile on February 24, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American rapper and record producer. The son of South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile, he began rapping as a teenager and joined Tyler, the Creator's collective Odd Future in 2009 after the two connected online.

About Earl Sweatshirt
His 2010 mixtape Earl, recorded at fifteen and sixteen, drew wide critical notice for its dense wordplay and dark humor, earning an 8.3 rating from Pitchfork. He went on to release the studio albums Doris (2013), which reached the top five of the Billboard 200, I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside (2015), Some Rap Songs (2018) and Sick! (2022), along with the collaborative album Voir Dire with the Alchemist (2023).
Soon after Earl's release, he was sent to a boarding school in Samoa, unable to record for roughly a year and a half before returning to Los Angeles in 2012. He left Odd Future in 2015 and moved toward sparser, sample-driven production shaped by New York underground artists, trading the collective's provocations for introspective, tightly wound verses.
He released the album Live Laugh Love in August 2025, extending the plainspoken, densely layered style of his later work. Earl Sweatshirt continues to record and produce, maintaining close ties to a small circle of underground collaborators rather than mainstream hip hop.
