About Eem Triplin

He went viral in 2022 with "Awkward Freestyle," built around a sample of Tyler, the Creator's 2013 song "Awkward"; its online popularity drew acknowledgment from Tyler himself and became Triplin's breakout single. His plugg-rooted sound, marked by laid-back, melodic vocals, has drawn comparisons to fellow rapper 454, while The Fader traced his loose melodicism back to rapper Duwap Kaine. Rather than following the aggressive rage-rap style common among his peers, Triplin has cited Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and Tyler, the Creator as primary influences.

Building on his early production work and viral success, Triplin signed to RCA Records, moving from an underground beatmaker to a signed recording artist. He continues to produce much of his own material, blending hazy, plugg-influenced instrumentals with hypnotic, laid-back flows, and has chosen to remain based in Pennsylvania rather than relocate to a major music hub.

Triplin released his debut studio album, Melody of a Memory, on 17 February 2025, executive produced by DJ Dahi, blending soulful and R&B textures with hip-hop, and was named to the XXL Freshman Class in June 2025.
