About Initiate

The band's sophomore full-length, Cerebral Circus, arrived on Triple B Records in 2023 and drew notice from hardcore press for pairing metallic riffing with melodic hooks; one reviewer called the record "vast, unfettered and entirely confident," comparing its emotional intensity to genre touchstones such as Touche Amore. Initiate's sound draws on 1990s New York hardcore alongside contemporary metalcore and post-hardcore influences.

Since forming, the band has shared stages with established hardcore and metalcore acts, building a reputation on the strength of its live performances and its members' outspoken ties to the straight-edge and vegan hardcore scenes and to feminist and queer advocacy within the genre. In 2026 Initiate signed with label Blue Grape Music, marking a step up from its earlier independent, cassette-driven releases.

The band released the EP With Love // With Rage in 2026, led by the single "Numb the Pain," and has kept up an active touring schedule, supporting acts such as the Wonder Years and Knuckle Puck and joining Enter Shikari on the road, alongside festival appearances including Warped Tour and The Fest.
