James Blake (born James Blake Litherland, 26 September 1988, in Enfield, London) is an English singer-songwriter and record producer known for an emotive, soulful voice and use of falsetto set against minimalist electronic production. He began releasing music in 2009 on Hemlock Records and gained wider attention through three EPs in 2010 that drew airplay from BBC Radio 1.

About James Blake

His self-titled debut album, James Blake, followed in 2011. His third album, Overgrown (2013), won the Mercury Prize, and he has since released The Colour in Anything (2016), Assume Form (2019), his highest-charting record, Friends That Break Your Heart (2021), Playing Robots Into Heaven (2023), and Trying Times (2026). He has won two Grammy Awards from nine nominations and a Latin Grammy Award, alongside three Brit Award nominations.

Beyond his solo work, Blake is an in-demand producer and collaborator, having written and produced for artists including Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, and Travis Scott. His music moves between club-facing bass production and introspective, piano-led songwriting, a range reflected across his catalogue and live performances.
