La Roux is an English synth-pop act from London built around singer Elly Jackson. Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid met in 2006 and initially performed acoustic music as Automan before shifting to electronic production and adopting the La Roux name in 2008, a title blending masculine and feminine French terms that alludes to Jackson's red hair and androgynous look. Langmaid left the project in 2012, and Jackson has continued as its sole member.

About La Roux

The self-titled debut album La Roux (2009) produced the UK number-one single "Bulletproof," which also reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, and the top-five hit "In for the Kill." The record won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2011. A second album, Trouble in Paradise, followed in 2014 after a difficult production process and was praised critically without matching the debut's commercial reach.

After parting ways with Polydor Records, Jackson released the album Supervision independently in 2020 and has kept working under the La Roux name since, including the single "IFTK" with Tion Wayne in 2022, which reached number six on the UK singles chart.

A further album, Old Flames, is set for release in November 2026, continuing La Roux's run of synth-driven pop records since the project's debut over a decade earlier.
