About Master P

Master P built No Limit Records into one of the most commercially successful independent hip-hop labels of the 1990s through a 1996 distribution arrangement with Priority Records that let him retain ownership of his master recordings. His album Ghetto D (1997) sold more than 760,000 copies in its first week and was certified triple platinum, while MP da Last Don (1998) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold more than four million copies; his single Make 'Em Say Uhh! was also certified platinum. He released 14 studio albums in total.

Beyond music, Master P expanded No Limit into a broader business empire spanning real estate, retail, telecommunications, film and television production, and sports management; Black Enterprise reported that No Limit Enterprises grossed $110 million in revenue in 1998.

Master P announced his retirement from music in July 2025 to become president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans, a role he left in March 2026.
