About O.A.R.

The band's sound fuses rock, reggae and jam-band influences, exemplified by the eight-minute live favorite "That Was a Crazy Game of Poker" from their debut album. Saxophonist Jerry DePizzo joined in 2000 while the group attended Ohio State University, completing a lineup that also includes guitarist Richard On and bassist Benj Gershman.

O.A.R. built its following primarily through extensive touring rather than radio promotion before achieving mainstream chart success with Stories of a Stranger (2005) and its singles "Love and Memories" and "Shattered (Turn the Car Around)." Later albums King (2011) and The Rockville LP (2014) both reached the top fifteen of the Billboard 200.

The band has continued recording into the 2020s with The Mighty (2019), The Arcade (2022) and the live album Live From Boston (2024), and it operates the Heard the World Foundation, which supports youth education and arts programs.
