Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Hockey League. The current franchise was founded in 1990 by real estate developer Bruce Firestone and began play in the 1992-93 season, restoring NHL hockey to a city whose original Senators franchise had won 11 Stanley Cups as a league charter member between 1917 and 1934.

About Ottawa Senators
After finishing last in the league for much of their first four seasons, the expansion Senators built a competitive roster through the draft, developing players including Alexei Yashin, Radek Bonk, and captain Daniel Alfredsson. Under coach Jacques Martin, the team became a fixture of the playoffs and won the Presidents' Trophy for the league's best regular-season record in 2002-03. Its greatest on-ice success came in 2007, when a roster led by the "CASH Line" of Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, and Dany Heatley advanced to the Stanley Cup Final, losing to the Anaheim Ducks in five games.
The franchise underwent a rebuild after the 2017-18 season, trading away stars Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone, and missed the playoffs for eight consecutive seasons as it developed a young core through the draft.
Under owner Michael Andlauer, who purchased the franchise in 2023, and coach Travis Green, the Senators ended their playoff drought in 2024-25 and qualified again in 2025-26, led by captain Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stützle, and Jake Sanderson.
