Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, competing in the AFC North division of the National Football League. Art Rooney founded the franchise on July 8, 1933, for a $2,500 fee, originally naming it the Pittsburgh Pirates before adopting the Steelers name in 1940; the team has remained under Rooney family ownership throughout its history, currently led by Art Rooney II.

About Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have won six Super Bowl championships, more than any other NFL franchise, with titles in the 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 2005, and 2008 seasons, along with eight AFC championships and 25 division titles. The organization has produced more than 30 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, including Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Joe Greene, Lynn Swann, and Jack Lambert.
The franchise struggled through its first four decades before head coach Chuck Noll, hired in 1969, built the roster that won four Super Bowls between 1974 and 1979 through a series of successful draft classes. Bill Cowher led the team to a further Super Bowl title in the 2005 season, and Mike Tomlin, hired in 2007, coached the team for 18 seasons without a losing record before Mike McCarthy became head coach in 2026.
Recent-era stars have included quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Polamalu; the team plays its home games at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
