About Silent Planet

The band's music combines metalcore and progressive metalcore with post-hardcore and post-rock textures, and its lyrics engage with psychology, war, religion, and social and political issues, often drawing on historical atrocities and mental-health themes. Its discography includes the albums The Night God Slept (2014), Everything Was Sound (2016), When the End Began (2018), Iridescent (2021), and Superbloom (2023); Everything Was Sound reached number one on Billboard's Top Christian Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts and featured guest vocals from Spencer Chamberlain of Underoath and Cory Brandan of Norma Jean.

Silent Planet built its early following on Solid State Records before later recording for UNFD, releasing a series of albums that expanded the band's instrumental complexity and thematic ambition. Despite frequent classification as a Christian metal act because of members' faith backgrounds, vocalist Garrett Russell has said the band does not consider itself a Christian band.

In December 2024 the group announced its independence from Solid State and UNFD, continuing as an independently released act and collaborating with Invent Animate on a joint EP.
