The Vancouver Canucks are a professional ice hockey team based in Vancouver, British Columbia, competing in the Pacific Division of the National Hockey League. The franchise joined the NHL in 1970 as an expansion team alongside the Buffalo Sabres, taking its name from a Vancouver minor-league club that had operated since 1945.

About Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have reached the Stanley Cup Final three times, in 1982, 1994 and 2011, without winning the championship. The club won the Presidents' Trophy for the NHL's best regular-season record in back-to-back years, 2010-11 and 2011-12, and has claimed eleven division titles. Franchise greats include Pavel Bure, the team's first genuine superstar and a 60-goal scorer, and twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin, whose long careers brought Art Ross scoring titles; the organization has retired five jersey numbers in their honor.
After a difficult 1970s that included a run of losing seasons setting a North American professional sports record, the Canucks broke through with a division title in 1974-75 and their first Cup Final appearance in 1982, a run that produced the club's Towel Power fan tradition. A second era of contention followed in the early 1990s behind Bure, and a third peak came around 2011 behind the Sedins and goaltender Roberto Luongo.
The franchise underwent substantial change in the mid-2020s: after a Pacific Division title in 2023-24, head coach Rick Tocchet departed at the end of the following season, and longtime captain Quinn Hughes was traded to the Minnesota Wild in December 2025. Forwards Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson and defenseman Filip Hronek served as alternate captains through the transition.
